Planning a 2026 or 2027 wedding can feel both exciting and overwhelming. With extra time to plan comes the opportunity to be intentional, but also the pressure of trends, opinions, and endless decisions. Starting with clarity about what truly matters will help you design a wedding day that feels calm, personal, and deeply meaningful.
As a wedding photographer, I’ve had a front-row seat to hundreds of wedding days. I’ve seen what creates ease and connection, and what quietly adds stress. If you’re currently planning a wedding, these five tips will help you build a day that not only photographs beautifully, but feels beautiful while you’re living it.

One of the most important factors when planning a 2026 or 2027 wedding has nothing to do with décor or outfits, it’s light. Natural light shapes the mood, color, and softness of your wedding photos more than anything else.
Traditional timelines don’t always account for this. Ceremony times are often chosen based on convenience rather than where the sun will be. When planning your wedding, working with your photographer early allows you to build a timeline that prioritizes the best light at your venue.
Golden hour, the hour before sunset, is especially valuable. Intentionally planning time during this window allows for relaxed, glowing portraits without pulling you away from your guests for long. When light is prioritized, the day feels more effortless.

When planning a wedding, it’s easy to focus on how things will look rather than how they will feel. But the most meaningful wedding days are designed from the inside out.
Ask yourself: How do I want this day to feel? Calm? Joyful? Slow? Celebratory?
Couples who prioritize presence over performance experience their wedding day more fully. When you’re not rushing from moment to moment or worrying about how things appear, genuine emotions unfold naturally, and those are the moments you’ll treasure most in your photos.

From a photography perspective, choosing the right venue is a major factor when planning a 2026 wedding. Venues with variety, indoor and outdoor spaces, architectural interest, and natural light, create flexibility and ease.
Venue variety saves time on the wedding day. Instead of traveling between locations for portraits, you can move naturally through one space while still receiving a diverse gallery. It also provides peace of mind if timelines shift or weather changes.
When touring venues, look beyond the ceremony space. Consider where you’ll get ready, where portraits could happen, and how the day flows from one moment to the next.
Pro tip: my favorite venues are ones with a lot of natural light, white walls, and white ceilings!

A tightly packed timeline is one of the quickest ways to add stress when planning a wedding. Even the best-planned days need breathing room, moments take longer than expected, and meaningful interactions deserve space.
Building buffer time into your wedding day timeline allows the day to unfold naturally instead of feeling rushed. Adding just 10–15 minutes between major events can make a significant difference.
From a photographer’s perspective, unhurried timelines always result in more authentic, emotionally rich imagery.

If you’re planning a 2026 or 2027 wedding, know this: you don’t need to know how to pose or what to do during portraits. That’s not your responsibility.
Your photographer’s role goes far beyond taking photos. We help guide timelines, read light, direct movement, and create space for real moments to happen naturally. Trusting that process allows you to relax and stay present.
The most beautiful wedding images come from connection and ease, not perfection.
Planning a late-2026 or 2027 wedding gives you the gift of time. Use it to plan intentionally, protect your experience, and create a day that reflects who you are, not just what’s trending.
When you prioritize light, feeling, flexibility, and trust, your wedding day becomes more than an event. It becomes a memory you’ll want to revisit for years to come.
